Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3rd September 2025
1. About This Policy
Beautiful Boozers Limited respects your privacy and complies with data protection law, including UK GDPR. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Beautiful Boozers app and related services, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what rights you have.
We follow three simple principles: we only collect information we need, we explain clearly how we use it, and we protect it with industry-standard safeguards.
2. Information We Collect
Account Details
When you create an account, we collect your email address, date of birth and display name. Date of birth is compulsory so that we can confirm you are aged 18 or over. Because the app features pubs and alcohol-related content, this check is necessary to comply with age restrictions. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive both a unique identifier and the email address used for authentication. This may be your actual address or a private relay address, depending on your provider settings. All logins are authenticated via Firebase, which requires an email address. If you create a password, we store it securely in hashed form..
Optional Information
You may also provide gender information (male, female, or prefer not to say). This is optional and only used to segment marketing campaigns.
Subscriptions and Payments
Payments in the iOS and Android apps are handled by Apple In-App Purchase or Google Play Billing. For web purchases, we use Stripe. We do not store card details. We keep records such as transaction IDs, subscription plans and renewal status so that your access can be recognised. This applies whether you choose one-off access, lifetime access or a subscription.
App Usage Data
We collect usage data to operate and improve the app. This includes actions such as saving favourites, creating lists or pub crawls. We also collect crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics.
Location Data
If you enable location on your device, the app shows your current position on the map. This happens in real time only and is not stored on our servers or linked to your account.
User Content
You can set your favourites, lists, pub crawls and visited pubs as Public or Private. Public items may be visible to other users of the app. User content such as photos and stories always remains your property. If you choose, we may tag your username to give you recognition when publishing. You can ask us to remove your content at any time.
Marketing and Communication
With your consent, we use OneSignal to send push notifications and email newsletters. You can unsubscribe from emails or turn off notifications in your device settings at any time.
3. Tracking Technologies
Web Tracking
On the Beautiful Boozers website, we use tracking technologies such as Meta Pixel, Google Analytics and Google Ads. These tools help us understand how visitors use our site and measure the effectiveness of our campaigns.
Cookies and Identifiers
These third-party tools may use cookies or similar identifiers on your device to collect information about your browsing activity. We do not set cookies ourselves, but Meta and Google may place them through their technologies.
Your Choices
You can manage or block cookies and similar identifiers through your browser settings or privacy tools.
4. How We Use Your Information
Purposes
We use your information to:
- create and manage your account and subscription,
- operate features such as favourites, and pub crawls,
- send necessary service messages,
- improve and secure the app, and
- with your consent, send push notifications and marketing emails.
Legal Bases
Our lawful bases for processing are:
- contract (to deliver your access and account)
- legitimate interests (to run and improve the app),
- consent (for marketing and optional gender segmentation), and
- legal obligations (such as keeping tax records).
5. Sharing Your Information
Service Providers
We only share information with providers who help us run Beautiful Boozers. These include:
- Apple In-App Purchase and Google Play Billing (payments),
- Stripe (web payments),
- RevenueCat (subscription management),
- Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics (analytics and crash reporting),
- Google Maps and Places (mapping data),
- OneSignal (push notifications and newsletters), and
- Firebase hosting (servers in Europe).
International Transfers
Some of the service providers we rely on are based outside the UK and EEA, including in the United States. This means that, when using certain services, your data may be processed internationally. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, we rely on approved safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum to ensure your data continues to be protected.
Other Disclosures
We may disclose information if required by law, to prevent fraud, or if Beautiful Boozers is reorganised or sold. We do not sell your data.
6. How Long We Keep Information
Retention Periods
We delete your account data immediately when you delete your account.
For operational data:
- Push and email identifiers (OneSignal) - retained while your notification or email preferences remain active, and deleted when you unsubscribe, disable notifications, or remove your account.
- Analytics and crash reports (Firebase) - collected only in aggregated form for app improvement. These records are not linked to your individual account and are held by our providers for their standard retention periods.
- Payments and transaction records - retained for 6 years to meet UK tax and accounting obligations.
- Support communications - retained for up to 24 months.
App Deletion vs Account Deletion
When you delete the Beautiful Boozers app, all data stored locally on your device is removed. However, your account data stored on our servers will remain until you delete your account. To do this, go to
Account Settings → Delete Account in the app. More details are provided in our FAQs.
7. Automated Processing
We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. The app does not make personalised recommendations - if you enable location, we simply show your position on the map in relation to pubs.
8. Your Rights
Individual Rights
You have the right to:
- access a copy of your personal data,
- correct or update your data,
- request deletion,
- object to or restrict certain uses,
- request data portability, and
- complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (www.ico.org.uk).
How to Exercise
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at
members@beautifulboozers.com.
9. Children
Because our app features pubs and alcohol-related content, it is strictly for users aged 18 and over. Date of birth is a compulsory field to confirm age. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
10. Security
We use TLS encryption for data in transit and rely on Firebase’s encryption at rest. Passwords are hashed. Access to personal data is restricted to trained staff who need it. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
11. International Users
Beautiful Boozers is available worldwide. Rights may vary depending on your country, but we apply UK GDPR as our baseline and comply with local laws where required. For example, we do not sell personal information under US privacy law.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you within the app or by email where appropriate. The most recent version will always be available on our website.
